It's Autumn Time, It's Autumn Time...

The leaves are falling down.

The weather cooperated just enough to get some great pictures before all the leaves in the valley were gone.  We had a fun morning--I got more, but these are my favorites.  Aren't they cute?  (Halloween pictures to come!)
I still love fall--in Texas everything goes from summer green, to winter dead in about 2 hours...they don't get a fall.  This is so great!

Calling all Sewers...

Mom, Mom, Becky, any other awesome seamstresses out there...I want to make these for Katelyn and Josh for this winter, but am most certainly not confident in my abilities--anybody want to make it for me? :)

I know the picture is fuzzy, but isn't that just the cutest thing?!  I love it!

This week's pie...

French Silk!  Do you have a favorite?

I'm making it Friday--send me your favorite recipes!

Updates!!

I've finally got caught up from the last few weeks.  We've had fun!!  Here, for your enjoying pleasure...

Click on the links to see the specific post, or scroll through the blog to see them all eventually.  Enjoy!

(We took family pictures a few weeks ago too....that post will be coming this week! They are great!!)

October...

We've been decorating for fall and Halloween and cleaning up our garden.  In Houston we would be planting our winter garden, but here, we decided it sort of feels nice to be cleaning things up and moving onto winter (although the weather has been GREAT, so winter is not here yet!).  We learned a lot about our garden, had some failures and some great successes.  I've had fun making the house feel festive!

Do you know what this is?  We don't either...it tasted like cantaloupe...and a cucumber! I'm thinking cross-pollination!

We've also been enjoying the great weather.  We hit up the park weekly, the kids and I, and we aren't looking forward to being shut in for the winter!

Pie Pie...Oh My!

I'm going to do a new thing this year...a pie a week until Thanksgiving!  This week's pie...Upside Down Apple Pie!
What's your favorite pie?  Send me your suggestions...I want to try some new ones!

Zoo with Payton

We hit up the Zoo with Katelyn's 2nd cousin, Payton.  It was great fun!!  (Katelyn LOVES Payton!) We missed Nicole (my cousin) and Carson, who was home sick...so we'll have to try again!

Five years ago last week (the first weekend in October), Mike and I had our first date.  My Bishop had been trying to set us up for weeks, and I finally tracked down his number from a guy in the ward and called him myself!  My roommates and I were organizing a big group date and what better place to have a first date-blind date.

Some of my cute roommates...

Mike showed up and he was cute--and tall!!  We chatted (he told me he had never been on a good blind date, I promised this one would at least not be awful!), made a dinner of french bread pizza (he taught me that you can boil chicken), and headed out to the Provo River for a Halloween Cruise.  We 'cruised' (he put his hand on the small of my back while getting in the boat) and then came home to my apartment to watch a really awful Frankenstein movie.  I walked him to the door and he told this was the best blind date he had ever had--and the most beautiful!  Sold!!  I was hooked!!

We went out on successive Tuesdays for about a month...once to ColdStone and a walk in the canyon (where we decided that we really could date each other cuz we had the same goals and directional plans), once we skipped Movie Night at his house to go on a walk, once to a CornMaze (where I wouldn't let him hold my hand.)  We DTR'd, later kissed on my front porch, and fell in love (all on a Tuesday)!

This October I decided to remember that great time and reenact some of our first dates.  We didn't end up having as much time, or energy, to do it all (blast those children and this pregnancy), but we hit up the Halloween Cruise again, ColdStone, and had time for a drive-by around Alta--the apartment complex where it all went down.  Good times!

Waiting for our Cruise this time...It was a lame as the first time we went...! :) LOL!

These people are making BANK!  $7 a person, 40 people to a boat, the boat runs every 30 minutes every weekend in October...and these boats were packed!

Love the poor quality of this picture! :)

6 months later, on May 11th we were married here.  It was great!

Loved him then, Love him still.  Always have, Always will!

Josh Walks!!

As promised...here is a video (or maybe two or three!)  I was getting a bit worried that he wasn't walking yet--isn't the 2nd sibling supposed to walk quicker since they are trying to keep up with sibling number 1?  But...he finally did it!  I love have a walker again!! No more crawlers in this house--at least for a bit! :)

I love this first one...for months now, Josh would walk if he was holding Katelyn's hand.  It wasn't quick, but it was something.  He LOVES his sister!

And finally, on his own!  He's improved a lot over the last two weeks...I wouldn't say that walking is his most preferred mode of transportation, but he's getting there!

(Anybody know how to turn these around?  I thought I had it going the right way, but it didn't seem to work...)

And there was joy once again...

We hit up the BYU Homecoming festivities this year.  It was so much fun!! I think we're going to have to make this a family tradition each year--it was very worth the hour drive in the early morning!

We met up with Uncle Tom by the corner of his apartment and enjoyed a good old fashioned BLUE pancake breakfast--complete with chocolate chips and whipped topping! (The breakfast of champions, I tell ya.)  We saw cousin Jennifer at her cute apartment and got the chillin's dressed and ready for the day.  And then we staked out our spot for the parade--which turned out to be really great.  Lots and lots of candy, fun dancers, princesses (Katelyn's favorite part), Cosmo, and lots of chances for Mike and I to reminisce and remember.  We'd recommend this to anyone and everyone~!

We headed over to Ben's house (one of Mike's best friends from FOREVER) and saw his cute new baby boy, and the rest of his cute family.  Thanks for lunch!  And then headed home to watch the game at my parents house (we didn't have tickets.)  Thank heavens we won!
As Mike said, driving home, 'And there was once again in Happy Valley!'

He Walks!!
