First Day of School!

We have been in school for a whole week and a half now! All day! First grade! Holy stinkin cow!  How did my sweet girl get so big!?!

What would we do without Aunt Jillisa to come and do our first day of school hair?!?

And the parentals! No tears!!  (Although I miss her like crazy!)

Just for kicks and giggles...look how much this girl has grown!

Bathroom Remodel!

Yeah for Memorial Day weekend...!  (Say, what?!)  Yup--that's how long it has taken me to finish up this bathroom...and I'll be honest, there is one thing left (which may never actually get done...).  But we are close enough and I'm excited to have it done. I love it every day!

We only have one bathroom upstairs, no master bath.  It has a super long wall that was just plain and from the first day we moved into the house we said that we would punch a hole in the wall and put a door into our bedroom.

Here is the bathroom before:

Not horrible. Most certainly not great. I still love my headboard turned towel rack... anybody want to buy it off me? ;)  It's just sitting around collecting dust now...

I am ashamed that I didn't get many pictures of us in process...but the final pics are great!

Mom and Dad came over and spent the weekend tiling--they really are masters. I mostly chased kids. Mike was helpful though!

We decided to do concrete counter top  I LOVE the look of it...but I am very disappointed in my sealer. We've tried two different kinds, with similar results. If and when I can solve the sealant issue, it will look SO fabulous--!
We followed this tutorial. It was smooth, easy, and quick.  And like I said, I LOVE the look!

Painting is my favorite part of a project--it makes it feel like you are almost there!! I did stripes...I love stripes! But it was intense...look a lot longer than I anticipated.  So nice when it's all done though! :)

I did two completely new colors--so it was tape and paint. Peel tape. Dry. Tape and Paint. Peel tape. Dry. Touch up paint. Tape the trim. Paint...you get the idea.

The door--not my dream method for installation, but we were out of funds and time by the end. Next year we will be re-doing our bedroom...maybe we will upgrade the track system then!

And...completion!  I LOVE IT!  In the end, we took the bathtub portion down to the studs. New tile and grout. Installed all new lighting. New counter tops.  Refinished the cabinets. New hardware. New faucets. New shower curtain and rugs. Paint. Ripped out a wall. Installed a new door. Made a new threshold.

What's left?  Frame out the mirror. It's going to match the cabinets and door--just haven't gotten it quite done yet.  You can envision it though, right? Beautiful!

I love the little details that make a new space yours...so fun!

We added these shower pockets. It took us several extra hours, but so worth it!

PS...who can tell my why my mirrors are so hazy--even after cleaning?  Is it my cheap knock-off windex, or my Viva paper towels? Anybody want to donate to my Norwex fund? ;)

This was my inspiration board...pretty close, I think! I'm a shameless copy cat...thank you Pinterest! :)

Grandma and Grandpa visit from Texas!

Last week we got some very special visitors...Grandma and Grandpa and Aunt Emily and Aunt Linda!  THANK YOU so much for staying with us for as long as you did...it was so great! (Tradition has it that most visiting members of the family stay with Mike's sister, Becky...I get it. She's the actual blood relative, Mike is usually at work all day, she has better accommodations, heaven knows that my kids are a whole bunch louder than hers, and I beat to my own, mostly non-Williams drum.  People are more comfortable there.  Logic understands, but my heart often feels jipped...so THANKS for spending time up in our neck of the woods while you were here. It meant a lot to me!)

Everybody arrived Monday evening and we enjoyed some good ol' crown burger and Leatherbys. Yum!  We got back to our house and settled in for the night--made plans for the week and just chilled. Awesome.

While they were here we had lots of fun...We went to the Treehouse all afternoon on Tuesday. So much fun!  The kids love the Treehouse, and secretly, so do I! We've got a pass, so if anybody ever wants to join us, we'd love to have you!

Mom and Luke played here for a solid 30 minutes...I cannot believe he sat still for that long!

And then, Dad and Josh played in the same spot for just about as much time!

Mom and Dad also took the boys to The Hill Air Force Base Airplane Museum.  Super fun!  I stayed home with the girls and hung out with Baby Ben.

We also hit up the Davis County Fair while they were here.  LOVE the fair!  We enjoyed the Elephant show and walking around--Grandpa and the kids LOVED the pony rides!

Love this picture!

I think Dad like the pony rides more than the kids...check out that face! :)

Friday the boys went Golfing and we tried to breath through all the wild fire smoke. Linda and I did some shopping (awesome!), we hit up the Trampoline Park (so fun!) and we enjoyed a YUMMY dutch oven dinner.

Saturday we went fishing.  It was slow starting out, but then we caught something just about every time we stuck a pole in the water! Great fun!

Not too manly to enjoy a good Barbie fishing pole!

She finally caught one--took the whole time!

There was also lots of games (though never enough!), hair chalking (sa-weet!), running errands (I LOVED having people to run errands with), cooking and cookies and fun!

We cannot wait until the next time we can get together.  I think spring break sounds nice! ;)  Or Christmas...even sooner!
