Random Things

I have been tagged by my sister--and so in return, I'm going to tag

Deanna
Stephanie
Holly
Becky
Linda

Rules:  Post 12 random things about yourself, complete with any pictures you have, and then tag 5 more people, tell them, and continue the fun! :)

12-I like to eat yogurt with a baby spoon. I swear it tastes better that way.

11-I always tap my knuckle on the window of my car as I'm getting out.  If I don't, I ALWAYS get a little shock.  Don't know what it is about my car that charges up static electricity, but it does!

10- I have to sleep with a blanket curled up around my face.  Fuzzy or t-shirt fabric is best, and currently Mike and I sleep under an old, worn, falling apart blanket I got in college, which my roommates and I named 'The Web.'  Oh, the sad day when I finally confess the 'The Web' is beyond hope.

9- I cheated in junior high school while learning to type, and so, to this day, I can't type numbers (the ones across the top) without looking. It's lame and really slows me down.  Don't cheat!

8- I have one itchy spot on my upper back...it's always itchy (like, right now!).  I have a theory that it's some sort of dead spot left over from epidural/labor stuff, but who really knows.  I just know that it's always itchy!

7- I am the most horrible laundry person you will ever meet.  I wash laundry. I fold laundry. I have laundry is beautiful happy piles...and there is stays.  'Honey, where would I find socks?' Oh, you know, check out that laundry basket FULL OF CLEAN CLOTHES!  Grr.  Horrible thing I do!

5- I listen to music, just about all the time.  Cleaning. Cooking.  Eating.  Crafting.  Talking. It's almost always on. Currently, the kids and I are loving showtunes!  Just ask Josh--he can sing a mean version of 'Arise and Seize the Day!'

4- I like to use funny, silly words.  Groovy Marsha. Bomdiggity.  Awesome Blossom.  Okay, maybe these are just 70's words...

3- I sleep with ONE ear plug, and the room has to be totally dark. In fact, I told Mike he could get me some of those black out curtains they have in hotels for my birthday. As for the one ear plug, if I use two I can hear/feel my heart pumping in my ears and it drives me batty. If I don't sleep with one, I can hear my sweet, snoring husband and it drives me to insomnia!

2- I have a bad habit of leaving my front door wide open.  When we are headed someplace, after carting crap, children, luggage, bags, food, etc, etc, etc, I often just drive off without looking to see if I remembered to shut my front door.  I have a neighbor who takes walks and has been known to shut my door for me, and I've come home before and had that panic moment...'Did someone break into my house?!' Oh no, just me, left the door open again!

1- I like junk candy. I'm like a 5 year old...bypass the good stuff...send me some of those conversation hearts, or this time of year, those little sweettart bunnies and chicks.  Circus peanuts--yes please.  Jelly beans--you bet.

Update!

I've been tagged by my sista', and Luke is going to have a birthday this weekend, so I had better quickly update before I check those two posts off my list! (Sorry Jilli!)  We've had fun this month---lovin' our nice weather and daylight savings time (which means my kiddos sleep in longer~! Yeah!).

We have been spending lots of time at the park.  Yeah for outside!! One night we swung past the gas station to get gas and a redbox and decided to buy a treat and head to the park.  On a side note, I think that every picture I have of Luke he is eating something!! It's the only way I can get him to hold still long enough to snap a shot! :)

We had an outside picnic on one of the first warm-ish days of the year.  As my sister, Brielle, pointed out when she saw this picture...oh no! Luke is getting away!  The story of my life! :) (I went visiting teaching yesterday with all three...to one particular lady, never again in my life will I take them all!  It was a joke!)

We've also been sick...lame!  The kids all got some narly bug that gave them really high fevers for 4 days and then they were fine.  Me?  STREP!  Man alive...that thing kicked my hiney!  I've never had it before--and I never want it again.  Seriously, I could swallow for 10 days--and that was on medication.  I have reached my sick quota for the year...I'm done~!

See what I mean? Eating--notice the foot.  Silly dude!

We cleaned out our front flower beds and trimmed the trees.  Katelyn and Josh decided they were beavers. Here is Katelyn with her very best beaver faces...silly girl!

More posts to follow, I'm sure, but at least I'm all caught up now!! :)

We are so blessed!!

We are so lucky!

How was your St. Patricks Day?  We had a great day...so much more fun to do holidays with kids!
Saturday night we set up a few Leprechaun traps.  Darn!  Those sneaky little dudes got away...maybe next year! (Last night, during family prayer, Katelyn said: "Please help us next little green man night to catch one."  :)

The two olders got new shirts and Luke got a whole bunch of fuzzy pictures taken of him.  (Dang slow camera phone!)  Those leprechauns brought us treats and presents and gold; they turned out milk green--and the toilet water!  We spent the day with cousins in Pleasant Grove and then enjoyed a dinner of green pancakes.  It was a great day!

For The Strength Of Youth

We got the new 'For the Strength of Youth' packet last night at YW. It's awesome! I was struck with how much love the General Leaders and Prophet--and for that matter, Heavenly Father-- have for the Youth.  A lot of time and effort and energy went into this updated puppy, and it's fabulous!  If you would like know more, go HERE.

In any case, get yourself a copy and see if you can find some differences. Some of my favorite include:

*Specifics about what is modest clothing for girls
*Questions to ask yourself at the end of each section
*Education will help you to be a wise counselor and companion to your future spouse and a informed and effective teacher to your children
*The addition of 'mobile devices' in the list of talked about media
*The fact that Satan tries to make inappropriate things seem 'normal, humorous or exciting'
*Safeguard your personal information online
*Don't let social media take away time from real family and friends
*Strong families require effort
*If you don't currently live in the ideal family situation (i.e., loving mother and father, siblings) have faith and continue to be strong and prepare for the day when you will form one yourself
*Standards for language are the same across all media--talking, texting, internet
*Learn and sing the Hymns
*When listening to music, be courteous to those around--pay attention to the volume and remove your earbuds when people talk to you.
*The addition of 'Emotional Health'
*Good emotional and physical health is more then just avoiding things, it is doing certain things too
*Honoring the Sabbath means you attend ALL your meetings
*Prepare for the Sabbath Day throughout the week
*A focus on a happy and Eternal family
*Avoid situations that invite increased temptation to be morally unclean-late nights alone, overnight activities, places without supervision
*Paying tithing is a privilege and a blessing
*The addition of an entire section entitled 'Work and Self-Reliance'

Overall, it's GREAT!  It has a better focus on the positive and eternal aspects for living good, with more talk about the blessings we can receive and the help that the Holy Ghost gives us. They updated the pictures (yeah!) and streamlined the whole booklet. It's awesome...get a copy!

March is closet month...

So, my organization is going great thus far this year.  I finally gathered the gumption to work on the office and although I sadly admit that it's not 100% there, it's done enough that only myself or my mother would notice it needs more work.  I will call that success!!
March is closet month, and when Mike went night skiing last week I decided to tackle my sewing closet.  I got it all done and it's BEAUTIFUL!  Sometimes I pass by the closet and open the doors just to stare at the organized inside.  I love it!  This is why I'm going to get my house all organized this year--and it's small successes like this closet that help me to not lose steam! :)
This week I'm moving to the upstairs closets--I'm going to paint the coat closet something fun and exciting, and I'm on the hunt for a perfect wreath for the outside of the door. Can't wait!
(sorry for the phone pictures...!)
BEFORE:
Before, my sewing closet consisted of two totes blocking the hallway, random scraps of fabrics, rick-rack, zippers, thread, etc, etc.  I found I kept buying stuff cuz I couldn't find what I had--and I was always rushing too fast from thing to thing (and lazy) to actually put stuff away so it just got stuffed. Embarrassing... :(
