My dear Luke...the days are long, but the years are short!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

We had a fun year this year.  Last year I wore myself out with making Leprechaun traps and bringing treats and gold every night. Who has time for that?  Not me...not this year! I found this great blog post that I LOVED and related to...enjoy if you wish.

However, if full disclosure, I still like having a good holiday to have fun with every now and then. This year for St. Patrick's Day I didn't make cute outfits like last year--really, when would they wear them on the Sabbath day Holy--and you wouldn't have found a gold coin anywhere in the house.  We did take an hour or so on Saturday afternoon to decorate boxes that we could hide for the Leprechauns to find.  This turned out to be the perfect activity for this pregnant Momma cuz I could supervise from the couch and the kids had a creative outlet.  It was fun!

Mike played the superdad card as we were going to be and reminded me that we were supposed to fill the boxes. Whew!  In the morning the kids got boxes of green stuff with trails of glitter (big mistake! Glitter NEVER goes away!).  We wore green to church and came home to a green dinner.  The verdict?  Food really shouldn't be green.

Hope you all had a great day too!
(Pardon Katelyn's neck...don't know what that is! ;)

New Camera---

Mike bought a motorcycle with his portion of our 'fun tax return money.'  I'm going to re-do the bathroom, but I also had enough left over to buy a camera.  Just a simple point and shoot camera with great video capability that I can carry around in my purse (and I bought a beefy, awesome case just for that reason!).  It's fun to take better quality pictures then just on my phone, and the videos are great too! :)

We played outside today--we have been doing that a lot lately.  It was great!  And, I learned my new camera can do some pretty cool stuff!

Pillow Fight!!

Did you know that my sisters and I have a blog?  Brielle and Jillisa are REALLY excited about it--Jillisa is convinced we are even going to make money!  It's a fun little project to do in my spare time (ha!) so periodically check there and see what's new!

Today I put up a tutorial.  I made some Pillow Fight swords for Luke's birthday (which I can't believe is in TWO weeks!).  They turned out super cute and I just know he's going to love them! Head over there and check it out! :)

Weekend Fun!

In addition to working on our bunk beds, Saturday morning we took the kids to the Airplane Museum   Brielle and Matt were in town to celebrate Ky's birthday, so we turned it into to a family affair!  Such a great morning--full of free fun!  The kids were rather well behaved, and as Mike pointed out, Airplanes are pretty kidproof anyway so the coast was clear! ;)

After the museum, we headed out to Smith and Edwards for some shopping. Man, I could drop some money in that store!  Grand fun!  I especially love the candy isle!!

Lastly, after coming home and doing naps and working on the bunk beds, we headed to Mom and Dad's to celebrate Ky's birthday.  The first BBQ of the season complete with games, BTS cake, and a NEW PURCHASE!  Who would believe it? My cute hubby, spending tax return money on something for himself...something frivolous!  I'm stoked!  Can't wait to have him get his helmet (which will be happening, thank you all for the reminders!) and spend the day.  Anybody want to go riding?

Treehouse Fieldtrip

I got to go with Katelyn and her Kindergarten class to her field trip.  We went to the Treehouse in Ogden--one of Katelyn's favorite places. We had a grand time!  It was fun to tag along with her class and watch Katelyn with her friends. We made wands, put on a play about the Golden Goose (which I had never heard before!), and learned all about lots of other fairytales.  I can't wait to go again!

Bunk Beds

When we got word that this baby was to be BOY number 3, I decided that triple bunk beds were the thing to build.  I always seem to want to do some fun project when I'm pregnant, and this one is going to be great!
We found a smoking deal on KSL for oak 4X4's on a Saturday and Mike headed out to load up the truck with literally TONS of beams.  He has been working on the plans at work and this weekend the weather was nice enough for us to get started!

Here are our 'before' boards.  Pretty rough but sturdy.  We had some trouble getting the right saw blade for the band saw, but after some googling we fixed it (or rather, Mike fixed it; he is the best fixer at our house, ya know!)

We got all the posts rough cut and planed to their final size.  Four long and 4 short.  Today we are going to rip other boards down, in half, for the rails, headboards, and footboards.  I am SO EXCITED!

We have been trying to decide on stain for the beds.  I think we've ruled out dark because the natural wood is so pretty--now we just have to decide if we want to do just a poly or if we want some light color.
