Anybody want to see something sad?

So, Josh-man has bad skin. Well, actually, that is a HUGE understatement.

Evidence: Exhibit A-E

And all this after seeing the pediatrician (4 times), the specialist, cutting out milk, the entire family washing our clothes in Dreft, cutting out trigger foods (carrots, corn), staying off our old nasty carpet, washing sheets/blankets/etc religiously, lotion-Lotion-LOTION, steroid cremes, body oils, prescriptions, old wives tales....

The specialist gives me hope that he'll grow out of it and that it is not going to be one of those allergies where he can't have gluten or soy his whole life, but in the meantime he's miserable.

So ladies--send me your tips, cuz it's no wonder this cute dude isn't sleeping!

It's allergies? I thought it was eczema from the pictures - especially the backs of the knees. My little guy had eczema his first winter/spring but it never came back. Maybe 2-3 baths a day and lots of lotion (you're probably already doing this). If it's allergies...??? Poor little guy! I hope you find something to help soon!

Poor guy. Carson has a lot of allergies as well. When he was about 6 months and I started to introduce him to food his poor little face would get so bad that it oozed. Finally when he turned 1 he was tested for allergies. He is allergic to food allergies (wheat, egg, peanuts, peaches & peas) as well as some plants, etc. Figuring out his food allergies was the best thing ever. Sure they were hard at first but his skin is 100x better. I am sure you are already doing this but some things that help us is to wash in allergy free detergent and use dryer balls instead of fabric softener (even allergy fabric softener seems to be a little harsh), apply Vaseline at least 2 times a day (works just as good as the expensive stuff), and eat a lot of rice, beans and potatoes.

If Josh is allergic to the same foods as Carson I can give you some tips on different flours to use and egg substitutes. Here are some websites that helped me in the beginning http://www.kidswithfoodallergies.org/ and http://www.foodallergy.org/

I hope you find out what Josh is allergic to soon. Best of luck!

Oh that is so sad... I have no idea how I can help, but giving lots of baths and trying different lotions. It may be a lot more expensive, but have you ever tried "Mustella?" It's designed for kids who have severely sensitive skin. I think I have some samples and I'll bring them on Friday to Ben's. Hopefully he gets some relief soon!!

Poor Baby!!! Bennett has nasty skin too. Recently it's gotten worse and he's hardly eating anything. One of the things you need to watch is baths, I know most people suggest giving them more bit less is better, just make sure you are lotioning him everyday. Kiersti said that her girls get worse as the seasons change, which I think just triggered Bennett's and she also suggested Benedryl. She gave him a dose when we were at her house and I'm not sure if it helped or not, but I am going to try to keep giving it to him for a little while. I have this really cool cream my friends suggested and it seems to help a lot. I will get you some.

Sean has had eczema his entire life so we deal with rashes like that all the time. For him what works the best is only showering once a day and immediately putting on lotion all over. He says that if he doesn't put on lotion within 5 minutes of getting out of the shower he'll breakout. He doesn't like showering more then once a day because even though he still puts on lotion the second time he gets really itchy. I think it has something to do with washing off the natural oils. He also uses shampoo as soap instead of soap because the shampoo seems to be more mild on his skin. When he has rashes, he uses eucerin, walmart makes a generic version that is half the price but its still around $10. This stuff is thick!! I hate putting it on for him but it works. The drier weather makes it worse so it has gotten better since he has been in Texas. He also uses steroid cream when it gets really really bad.

How awful! I hope he outgrows it soon. Kaden had sensitive skin unrelated to food allergies. We started using All Free & Clear detergent for everything--I heard Dreft isn't completely free of everything, but I don't know if that's true. And the Bounce free & clear dryer sheets. Also we only bathed him once a week for a long time (anything more than that irritated his skin even more), using Aveno baby fragrance free wash. And we slathered him in Aquaphor frequently. Good luck!
