Updates, Updates, Updates

It's been another busy week! Here are the highlights!

I finished the desk that I was refinishing. I refinished this desk once before as a Laurel Project, and it was fun to do it again for Katelyn's room! Her room is so bare and lonely--slowly but surely we'll make it a dream room for our little girl!

(I did take before and afters, but since by sweet hubby wiped the computer, I don't have access to the befores...it used to be yellow--and after some cross country moves--it looked really bad!)

Mike got it lab gear this week from work--doesn't he look cute? :)

I'm sure he thinks I'm dorky, taking pictures of him in his lab gear---but we must kodak momentize everything! These lab coats/coveralls are fire retardant and made with all sorts of special specifications just for Mike--kinda neat! :)

Katelyn is loving walking around and playing--she's our cute girl!

Saturday we took Katelyn to PetsMart to see all the animals. She loves animals--she always points them out and gets so excited when she sees birds or kitty's or puppies. It doesn't matter where they are--on TV, at a friends house, in the field by our house...

We also had a fun date the other week--we went to one of those big camping/hunting/fishing stores. They have a lazer shooting range and we shot lazer 22's. I'm actually a pretty good shot! This place was really fun--they had fudge when you walked in and all sorts of stuffed animals and fish tanks that you could look at--I'm think we should take Katelyn there to visit! We also stopped and visited our new outdoor mall--it was great!--and we stopped to get pictures of the strange heads that are sitting by the side of the freeway.

Guess that's it! Enjoy!!

A Week Back in Normal Life...

So I survived my first week back from being on vacation all summer! It's been such a neat tender mercy to have so many visitors come and stay with us...however, school starts next week so I think that the big trips are over! But any of you guys who don't have kids that need to stay in school (notice, I didn't say kids that WEREN'T in school, just kids that DIDN'T NEED to be there... :), please come and plan a trip! The house is big and lonely with just Katelyn and I all day! :)

Katelyn and I spent the week doing projects! Yeah!! I helped a friend recover her couch (sorry mom, I forgot to take before and afters! Horror!!) and I started working on refinishing a couple of desks. I got a great beast of a desk at a garage sale a few weeks ago...the thing is completely and totally hideous and old, but it's huge and is going to be a great work surface for all my crafts! So I'm refinishing my old craft desk to go in Katelyn's room, and I've got to do something to the new one so that it's doesn't suck away my creative ideas once we get it in the house (how in the world Mike is going to get the beast up the stairs and to the office is yet to be determined...). I'm also busy working on a special Christmas present for my sister-in-law Meg...so no pictures of that fun project until after Christmas (wouldn't want to spoil the surprise!).

I also bought my tickets for my trip to Utah in September! I'll be flying out of San Antonio, and one of my friends (the couch recovering friend) is going to fly home and back with me. Her family lives in Fruit Heights, so it's just about perfect! (It's a surprise for her family though, so don't tell...) Beats making the 3 hour drive to San Antonio alone. And I'm extra lucky because Deanna, my best friend from home, is flying back to Texas with me as well! (We're going to miss you Steph!) Yeah for airplane rides! :) Now lets just hope that Katelyn does well!

Mike spent the day yesterday building us a DVR--and now we are going to be able to move all of our favorite shows onto DVD, and take out the commercials! Yeah! Who needs to buy movies when you can do that?! It's been a bit of a project, but I'm just glad that he's so smart! Yeah!

I still don't have a calling yet, but I'm trying to stay busy. I set up a temple trip group with some of the women in the ward and our first trip is this Tuesday. It's been a clumsy process to get it all arranged, but now that it's going I think it will be great!

Katelyn is walking all over the place, she is proficient at going up and down stairs, she climbs everything-just like a monkey- and she's figuring out words (Oh, and this week she found a penny under the dryer and swallowed it! Crazy girl!) --she especially likes to repeat what I say...regular people can actually understand what she's saying some of the time...bye-bye, baby, dad...we're teaching her Grandma, Grandpa, and Go Cougars. It's great!

Speaking of which...we have fun plans to head up the Dallas/Fort Worth for the BYU/TCU game in October. We went the last time they played there--and for those of us who don't get to go to LaVell Stadium anymore, it was as close as we can get! I was amazed at how many Cougar fans there were that made the trip. It's going to be a 4-5ish hour drive for us, but oh so worth it! :)

And the big milestone of the week--she's off the bottle! Yeah! I thought that it would be a much bigger ordeal then it was, but it went okay! And we're finally sleeping through the night again! Wahoo! We've all been a sick bunch the last little bit--but we've used up all of our medications and gotten a clean bill of health. Shocker of shockers...Katelyn is in the 90th percentile for height and only the 30th percentile for weight. And now she is no longer a bottle baby! Yeah! :)

Well--there's the update. Sorry, not any fun pictures to post cuz I'm actually not on my regular computer. Mike is fixing the one where all my pictures are, so I'm a bit handicapped! :)

Love you all!

Hurricane Eduard...

Well! Hurricane Eduard came and went--and was really a lame disappointment! We were all prepared and ready for a day of big wind gusts and lots of rain, and in actuality just got a bit of rain and not-out-of-the-ordinary winds. Oh well...Mike's office was closed early on Monday and was closed all day yesterday, so he got a free day and a half off of work! We spent the day cleaning the house, playing games, making cookies and throwing up! (Yup...we got a bunch of sickies here! Katelyn threw up on me for the first time ever--gross! But not as gross as I expected--guess that's a blessing of being a mother!)

So, I hope that you all had a great Hurricane day as well! Maybe next time we'll have something exciting to report! :)
